March Newsletter

A Note from Your AMS

I’m ready for Old Man Winter to go into hibernation and for Spring to arrive. As I’ve grown older, I don’t tolerate the cold as well as I once did. Still, I’m reminded that every season has a purpose, and each one is designed by God. So, I’ll be thankful for winter just as I welcome the warmth of spring.

Ironically, on March 22nd I will be leading a mission team to Santiago, Chile—just as they are transitioning from summer into fall. Please pray for our team, which includes five from our association, one from London, and one from Hazard. We return on March 29th.

Our main objective while in Santiago is to begin remodeling the chapel and library at the Baptist Theological Seminary. We’ll be installing a drop ceiling in the chapel and closing in two windows in the library to expand the usable wall space. There will be additional tasks as well, but these are our primary goals.

Let me also encourage pastors and church members to attend the REACH Evangelism and Missions Conference, hosted by the Kentucky Baptist Convention, on March 10–11 at First Baptist Church Somerset. Speakers include Dr. Richard Blackaby and Dr. Robert Smith Jr. Visit the KBC website to view the schedule and register.

This week is the Week of Prayer for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Please pray for the 5,000+ missionaries serving through the North American Mission Board!

Our regularly scheduled Executive Board Meeting has been moved to March 18th at Slate Branch Baptist Church due to the REACH conference. We encourage pastors, board members, and any interested members to attend. You’ll be blessed by a good meal, updates on how God is working in our association, and the preaching of God’s Word.

For His glory,
Bro. Tommy

“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”

WMU Corner

As we begin 2025, I want to encourage each of you to be part of Lake Cumberland Baptist WMU. Our mission is to help churches give, learn, pray, and do missions—because we can do more together.

If your church needs support or a speaker, please let me know. I’d be honored to help.
