A Note From Your AMS

Ecclesiastes 3:1–2 says:

“To everything there is a season, a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to harvest that which has been planted.”

This time of year is the season to plant. Spring is here, and farmers across our region are diligently working their fields. One major challenge they are facing this year, however, is the lack of rain. According to current statistics, Pulaski County is more than six inches behind in rainfall for the year. If God does not extend His grace to us, we may soon be facing an extreme drought.

I believe in the power of prayer. I also believe God’s people need to become serious about praying for rain. Many of us have never witnessed conditions this dry at this point in the year.

Because of this, I believe it is necessary to call upon all churches of the Lake Cumberland Baptist Association to unite in prayer for rain. I encourage our churches to set aside a special time of prayer on Wednesday evening, May 6, asking God to restore the 6.9 inches of rainfall we are currently behind for the year.

As we approach God’s throne in prayer, let us remember the words of 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Could it be that God is withholding rain because of our sin? If so, it is time for God’s people to humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and repent. Then He will forgive us and heal our land.

May God have mercy on us and send both the rain that nourishes the earth and the spiritual showers that nourish our souls.

By His Grace,
Bro. Tommy

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain…”
— John 15:16–17

As I was looking over our Mosaic for May, there was a statement that truly spoke to me:

“Pray for a Willingness to Be Redirected.”

So many times when we pray, we tell God what we want Him to do instead of asking Him to reveal His will to us. The hardest part is accepting His answer when it does not align with our plans.

As we look around at all of God’s beauty this spring, ask Him to help redirect you, expand your perspective, and give you understanding and acceptance of His will.
